The final Module IV will process the ceiling and wall paintings in church buildings on the parish level. It is planned to divide the great number of objects into two categories and to develop them differently with regard to the depth of research.

The higher ranking portfolio of city parishes and pilgrimage churches will be presented, as in Modules I to III, by photography and detailed analysis. The large group of rural parish churches and chapels can only be incorporated by shorter text contributions.

A special research focus will be on the study of mural painting in protestant churches.
